The Artist

Rachel Feutz is a multidisciplinary artist from Raleigh, North Carolina. She attended Appalachian State University in Boone, NC where she originally studied cultural anthropology while taking art classes as electives. By the end of her sophomore year, due to the encouragement and support from her art professors, Feutz decided to change paths. In 2023 Feutz graduated with a Bachelor in Fine Arts with a concentration in ceramics. The young artist had a successful collegiate career, winning scholarships and awards such as “Best in Show” and “First Prize” in the university’s Student Art and Design Exhibition. Upon graduating Feutz began her professional career. She was honored to be a studio assistant at Hollins University annual Women Working with Clay symposium and participated in the exhibition “Origins” juried by ceramic artist, Kensuke Yamada.

Despite a promising start to her artistic career, Feutz’s love for language and culture motivated her to move to Spain shortly after graduating. The artist lived in Albacete, Spain from 2023-2025 where she worked as an english teacher, travelled around the country, and became immersed in the language and culture. Feutz is currently based in Granada, Spain where she has returned to her creative discipline and seeks new opportunities.

The Statement

We cannot see how our hair is always growing like the grass.

How are bodies are slowly wilting like the leaves in fall.

We cannot always feel the movement of air or the movement of our breath

Or smell the change in the weather

 hear the trees conversing

 taste our own words.

But it’s always there.

Always changing and interconnected.

We just have to look closely

And feel deeply
